Maoxiang BOX is situated within the Cultural and Creative Industry Park at 508 Chaozhou Road, Putuo District, Shanghai. After retiring from professional badminton, world champion Wang Yihan registered the Maoxiang cultural brand IP and invested in establishing this badminton-themed creative space—Maoxiang BOX—to carry forward the spirit of sports.
According to international competition standards, the minimum ceiling height of the entire stadium must be 9 meters, with no beams or obstacles within this height, and a 2-meter obstacle-free zone around the court. This building, originally an old factory with ample vertical space, was selected for its suitability. In today’s focus on fostering strong social interactions, the design and architectural concept make the combination of “sports + social” seamless and full of potential.
Featuring state-of-the-art sports facilities (BIM technology), Maoxiang BOX offers a relaxed atmosphere that embodies the spirit of sports with a youthful nightclub vibe. The hazy ambiance encourages socializing and celebration, creating a space that fulfills both athletic and social aspirations.

One of the defining features of this space is the spacious badminton court, designed strictly according to international competition regulations. Another highlight is the dynamic internal lighting system (BIM training), which adapts color and flicker frequency to suit different scenes. Multiple layers of lighting create a captivating contrast, enhancing the atmosphere.
In addition, this facility doubles as a high-tech sports complex offering immersive virtual reality experiences.
The indoor swimming area stands out as a major attraction, featuring an infinity pool system. The pool surroundings include ocean balls, LED soft neon lights, and a grid-shaped stainless steel wine rack. The reflective stainless steel interacts with light and shadow, illuminating the wine bottles beautifully. The combination of the pool party atmosphere with shifting light and shadow effects creates an unforgettable ambiance.

This area functions as an independent KTV room, with LED light strips arranged in discontinuous lines across the walls and ceiling, casting dynamic shadows on the floor. Though the space is constructed with cold materials like steel and stone, the colorful lighting transforms it into a surreal, dazzling environment.

The bathroom lighting design offers a unique contrast to other areas. It uses warm orange lighting that, combined with hazy effects and multiple mirror reflections, creates a psychedelic maze-like atmosphere within the compact space.

The second floor features a viewing platform and VIP booths. A standout design element on this level is the brand IP display of Cat Enjoy BOX embedded in barbed wire mesh. Inspired by the shape of badminton feathers, the mesh becomes a showcase when lit and blends seamlessly into the space when dimmed.

Additionally, the building’s exterior facade was renovated to reflect the badminton theme, featuring painted net patterns and IP images that unify the entire structure under this concept.
