The Jun’anli Resort Hotel is nestled in the pristine mountainous region of Moganshan, renowned for its dense bamboo and pine forests, towering peaks, hidden lakes and waterfalls, and picturesque tea gardens. This enchanting area is often referred to as the “Hampton of Shanghai.”

In collaboration with architect Martin Jochman from Jade+Q&A, our team has translated the essence of the building’s external architectural style into the interior design. The result is a vivid, natural, and captivating atmosphere that evokes a fairy-tale landscape. Stylus Studio’s design harmoniously blends nature and craftsmanship with Eastern sensibilities and international aesthetics, delivering a hotel experience that is both visually stunning and thoughtfully crafted.

The main design inspiration and façade elements are drawn from the dynamic flow of waterfalls, rivers, and lakes shaped by thick rain clouds drifting over the rolling mountains. The building’s layout and façade design are thoughtfully planned to ensure uniqueness, functionality, and a deep connection to the surrounding natural environment of Moganshan.

Upon entering the hotel lobby, guests are welcomed by a striking “bamboo cloud” staircase illuminated to guide their ascent. This design element invites visitors to slowly climb, reminiscent of tea pickers moving through the different levels of the hotel.

Natural sunlight streams into the interior through skylights, while a custom-designed four-ring bamboo fin pendant light, echoing the architectural form, casts a warm glow throughout the space.

Inspired by the native camellias surrounding Moganshan, the banquet hall and lobby tea room embody this natural motif. In the tea room, enlarged yellow camellia petals serve as a decorative screen, creating semi-private spaces for guests. Meanwhile, the banquet hall features yellow camellia shapes on the ceiling and walls, complemented by modern crystal chandeliers that craft a spectacular and refined atmosphere. All audio-visual and mechanical equipment are cleverly concealed, ensuring seamless functionality for various events.

Beyond crafting visually stunning spaces, we prioritize sustainability. Approximately 95% of construction materials—including bamboo, wood, metal, stone, and glass—are sourced locally within an 800-kilometer radius, minimizing the carbon footprint. All artworks featured throughout the hotel are custom-made by local artists and craftsmen, supporting their expertise as well as the local economy.

At Stylus Studio, we are dedicated to creating designs that are meaningful and enduring. We focus on every project and detail, aiming to deliver results that exceed expectations for both end users and clients. People are at the heart of our work; we take pride in pursuing true meaning, respecting human nature, pushing creative boundaries, and crafting rich emotional experiences and compelling stories within every space. These narratives not only offer immersive experiences but also engage the senses deeply. The County Council International Convention Center exemplifies this philosophy, bringing the unique charm of Moganshan’s mountains, tea gardens, bamboo forests, and cloud seas—and the craftsmanship of local artisans—into the guest experience through thoughtful interior design.
