DT Private Residence is a compact house measuring 5 by 20 meters, a common size in Vietnam. The design draws inspiration from the needs of tropical homes, using spatial forms and materials that endure the harsh climate of Danang city in central Vietnam (BIM work department).

Before beginning the design, the architect proposed the concept of nesting a small house within a larger room. This approach allows the outer structure of the residence to fully envelop and protect the inner spaces. The connection between these two areas is made via staircases.

Residential buildings in Vietnamese towns often face common challenges: narrow, elongated plots and close proximity to neighbors, which limit ventilation and natural light. Among these, poor ventilation and lighting are the most pressing issues. To address this, the architect designed a spacious front yard and two staircases connecting the floors, creating an open interior space that improves airflow and lighting. This embedded courtyard acts like the lungs of the small house, ensuring continuous air circulation.

Green plants and trees play a vital role in this residence. They bring freshness and comfort to confined spaces and serve as a key feature of the lower level. Trees also foster a connection between family members across floors, allowing unobstructed views and friendly conversations in the open space. The natural ambiance created by indoor greenery, paired with locally sourced eco-friendly materials, maintains a pleasant temperature and neutral color scheme, ensuring a comfortable living environment.

This private residence was designed for a small family. Prior to the project, the owners engaged in multiple discussions with the architect, sharing their wishes for a vibrant, family-friendly home filled with a strong sense of belonging. After completion, the owners expressed their satisfaction, noting how the house evoked cherished childhood memories and deep emotions. The architect also hopes that this happiness will continue to be passed down through generations living in this home.
