This project is located in Changzhou, Jiangsu, and consists of a series of Chinese restaurant outlets under the Jiangnan brand. We have upgraded and modernized the original design.
The design highlights the heavy yet simple style characteristic of Huizhou architecture, creating a dining environment that feels both tranquil and mysterious.
Entrance Area
Moss stains on the upper level turn a vibrant green,
While the grass fades softly into varying shades of green.
As its name suggests, ‘Jiangnan Li’ invites guests to immerse themselves in the charm and ambiance of the Jiangnan region.

▲ Capturing the picturesque scenery of Jiangnan
To evoke the quaint elegance of ancient Huizhou, the facade features extensive use of aged Huizhou bricks accented with touches of red plum blossoms.
Low eaves lower the visual center of gravity, while mist softly drifts around, crafting a poetic landscape within the limited space of the shopping mall.

Dining Area
The site is compact and constrained, forming a semi-circular shape that adds a playful character to the design.
At the entrance hall, the designer installed a three-sided ancient stone bridge, creating clear and guided circulation.

▲ Long corridor dining area
Located at the center of the restaurant, the long corridor dining area features a dry landscape and mist effects to emphasize focal points. Unique five-needle pines and Lingbi stones from Anhui are placed within thick white mist, resembling miniature wonders of Huangshan Mountain.

To enhance the dining experience, the designer enclosed the original glass curtain wall with a curved wall, combining projections and hand-painted green landscapes.

Huizhou style architecture from northern Anhui is distinctive, especially its eaves.
The designer emphasized the eaves as a key design feature.
Low eaves are placed close to the ground, with dining tables arranged around them, offering diners a “panoramic view of mountains and small spaces.”

Deeper inside, an antique hexagonal pavilion enriches the spatial experience. Paired with Chinese oval paper lanterns and pine trees, it evokes the feel of a traditional Huizhou courtyard.

Above the dining area, a black-roofed boat hangs suspended, creating a semi-enclosed space below formed by surrounding hard-wrapped dining chairs, accommodating groups comfortably.

The designer thoughtfully incorporated details such as the boat-shaped dining table, a “paper book chandelier” reflecting Huizhou culture, and moss scattered on tiles, all contributing to a delightful sense of discovery.
