Over the past 40 years, significant changes have transformed the beaches, coastal areas, mountain roads, and shorelines. The evolving customs, buildings, public spaces, along with the emergence of brand and bank advertisements in Cachagua, one of Chile’s most beautiful towns, have driven us to seek new locations for development.
Our priority is to create a landscape where people can freely and quietly meditate—a sanctuary for personal reflection and community interaction.

First Floor Plan
Yu, a BIM engineer, moved from the northern to the southern part of Zone 5, drawing closer to the coastline. This location offers many opportunities to observe the waves, rocks, and seagulls up close.

Our house in Tunquén boasts a landscape view from Punta del Gallo, approximately a 1 hour and 45-minute drive from Santiago. This area is known for its unique and charming character. Both we and the property owners have a deep affection for this region, inspiring us to spend as much time here as possible.
Within this serene environment, we find meaning and potential for future growth. Our days here are filled with reading, writing, observing, walking, and conversation.

We envisioned the Mirador House project as a structure rising gradually from the terrain, offering simultaneous views of both land and sea. Its design features a main floor supported by a smaller foundation, creating a symmetrical cantilevered observation deck overlooking the coastline.

The architectural concept draws inspiration from the designer’s three visits to Villa Savoye in Paris, designed by Le Corbusier. This summer villa project was commissioned by a Parisian lawyer on the Mediterranean coast, with architect André Wogensky inviting me to participate in its design and construction.
The project reflects a consistent geometric architectural language, solar orientation, and strong integration with the site. It also informs the design of 25 Serfacoop houses in Las Condes and the Rotonda residences in Peñalolén Alto (BIM projects).

The Mirador residence features a gently rising ramp connecting the main floor to the ground. This level includes a spacious conference area flanked by two open terraces—one facing the vast ocean, the other overlooking rural landscapes. On either side are platform spaces.
The center of this open space is slightly elevated, allowing morning and evening sunlight to enter at an oblique angle. A spiral staircase provides access to the rooftop terrace, offering panoramic views of the entire area.
The main building comprises a simple volume housing changing rooms and bathrooms, conveniently serving visitors camping or swimming on the nearby beach.
