BIM terminology generally encompasses three distinct definitions, depending on the context and purpose:
1. Product: This refers to a digitized 3D model that represents a building. It is a structured dataset that describes both the form and meaning of the building, and is thus called a Building Information Model.
2. Activity: This involves the process of creating and managing a building information model, commonly known as Building Information Modeling.
3. System: BIM also implies a systematic, collaborative operational process. When the construction industry adopts BIM, it essentially implements a new business system model. Therefore, it can be described as Building Information Management.
