3. The later-stage data extensions of BIM cannot be managed by a single software application. Instead, they must adhere to basic information and data standards. Functionally, BIM-related software falls into two categories: one focuses on building models and managing their databases, while the other mines and utilizes data within these databases for operations and analysis.

4. Therefore, the true leader in BIM is the one who controls the model and data standardization platform. All other software functions as plugins or apps on this platform. Developers should carefully consider whether their product serves as a platform or an app.

In summary, the ultimate form of BIM software can be described as follows:

  • Platform — emphasizing standardization and sharing
  • Professional Features — provided through plugin-based architecture

  • Design — involving 3D modeling, data integration, and simulation
