The BIM Myth: How BIM Can Actually Lower Productivity

Many companies assume that implementing BIM solutions will lead to a significant drop in productivity during the transition period. This concern is understandable. In fact, a network survey conducted by Autodesk on the Revit platform revealed an average productivity loss of 25-50% during the initial training phase of using Revit.

However, any productivity decline experienced during training can be quickly offset by substantial gains afterward. The survey also found that most users regained their previous productivity levels with Revit-based applications within just 3 to 4 months. After completing training, more than half of the respondents reported productivity improvements exceeding 50%, while nearly 20% experienced a 100% increase.

BIM solutions like the Revit platform rely on coordinated, consistent, and computable building project information. By adopting these solutions, companies eliminate the need for manual drawing creation and coordination, enabling faster and more accurate generation of project documents.
