Applying BIM in Project Acceptance Processes

How is BIM applied in the acceptance process? During engineering quality acceptance, it is common to encounter dimensional and shape information that needs verification. This includes elements like axes, hole sizes, and deviations in embedded components. Traditionally, the acceptance process relies on consulting drawings and performing manual measurements on the physical structure. This approach is labor-intensive, limited to sampling, and often lacks comprehensive representation for assessing engineering quality and safety.

By leveraging BIM technology to create an information model of the project, combined with 3D laser scanning to capture the entire physical structure, scanned data can be directly compared with the BIM model. This comparison clearly reveals any deviations, no matter how small, across all parts. This method not only reduces the labor required but also significantly improves the efficiency of the acceptance process. Moreover, it enables timely and thorough detection of major deviations, which is especially critical for high-rise and super high-rise buildings.

In summary, BIM technology is extensively applied in acceptance procedures and offers clear advantages in ensuring quality and safety.
