The use of Building Information Modeling (BIM) is rapidly growing in China, accompanied by the introduction of corresponding BIM standards. The Ministry of Construction has convened a special meeting to make decisions on this matter. These standards aim to better regulate BIM practices, highlighting its significance in the country. Today, BIM is commonly employed in large-scale projects, demonstrating its critical role in the Chinese construction industry.
BIM functions similarly to a 3G standard, with software companies like Autodesk and Bentley acting as manufacturers of mobile devices. Achieving a 2G level means meeting the capabilities defined by 2G standards, while reaching 3G implies meeting the more advanced 3G functionalities. Although their user interfaces differ, the overall direction is clear: standards must be established by the government or industry authorities, while the production of end-user software can remain diverse and innovative.
