Today, the editor of BIM Building Training Network will discuss the development trends of BIM. In my opinion, these trends can be understood from the following key aspects:
1. Mobile Technology for Data Access. With the widespread use of the Internet and smart mobile devices, people can now access information anytime and anywhere. In architectural design, many contractors equip their teams with mobile devices, enabling on-site design work and real-time data collection.
2. Data Exposure and Monitoring. Sensors and monitors can be installed throughout a building to track temperature, air quality, and humidity. Additional data such as heating, ventilation, and water supply information can also be integrated. By consolidating this data, designers gain a comprehensive understanding of the building’s current conditions.
3. Cloud Technology and Infinite Computing. Looking ahead, cloud computing will play a crucial role. Whether analyzing energy consumption or structural performance, cloud computing offers the powerful processing capabilities needed. This enables real-time rendering and analysis, helping designers quickly compare different designs and solutions.
4. Digital Reality Capture. Technologies like laser scanning allow for the early collection of data from bridges, roads, railways, and other infrastructure. New algorithms are continuously developed to convert laser-generated points into planes or surfaces, which are then integrated into modeling environments.
5. Collaborative Project Delivery. BIM is not just a technology but a workflow that transforms design approaches and project execution. It fosters collaboration among designers, contractors, and owners, each contributing valuable insights and ideas throughout the project lifecycle.
