The development of BIM in China is progressing rapidly, yet many challenges remain. One of the main obstacles is the lack of awareness and recognition of BIM’s potential among leadership. Interestingly, construction enterprises generally have better conditions for implementing BIM compared to design institutes. Software providers like Luban and Guanglianda have been developing BIM solutions for over a decade and have established a solid foundation, but this potential has not been fully utilized.
Another significant challenge is the strong resistance from middle management during project implementation. Applying BIM technology in construction—from budgeting to actual execution—requires transparency throughout the entire process. This transparency can impact the interests of various stakeholders, leading to reluctance in adoption.
Finally, the shortage of qualified professionals presents a high barrier to BIM adoption within construction companies today.
When it comes to the relationship between BIM technology and enterprise management standardization, the correlation is relatively low. Therefore, the risk associated with expecting returns from BIM integration is not particularly high. Primarily, BIM technology serves as a fundamental data support system for enterprise management.
