The Lianhua Residence is a renovation project located in the heart of MaeAsakura Town, Fukuoka Prefecture. Originally a 70-year-old rice mill, it has been transformed into a modern home that reflects contemporary living while preserving the building’s historic charm and potential.

This beloved rice mill, cherished by the local community for decades, has been thoughtfully converted into a contemporary residence. The renovation carefully maintains the building’s historical essence while highlighting its unique architectural features.

The original structure comprised a single-story building used for rice milling and a two-story building primarily serving as a warehouse. Thanks to its substantial size as a standalone residence, the two-story section has been converted into living quarters, while the single-story area now functions as a retail space open to the community.

Currently, many model homes across Japan are rebuilt within approximately five years because their designs quickly become outdated. To address this, the Lianhua Residence aims to be a sustainable model home that is cherished by the local community. It embodies the concept of providing an ‘extra value’ that endears it to residents beyond mere appearance.
