Many people wonder why our BIM building training website primarily focuses on Revit for BIM training. Here, the editor will take a moment to explain this choice.
First of all, Revit is currently the leading BIM software in China, widely used in both building construction and collaborative projects. It caters to a broad audience and includes several specialized design modules such as Revit Architecture, Revit Structure, and Revit MEP (mechanical, electrical, and plumbing). The Revit platform not only offers design capabilities comparable to specialized software but also enables data to be shared and utilized across multiple professional and multi-platform Autodesk applications like 3ds Max, Showcase, Navisworks, and other simulation and rendering tools.
This comprehensive Autodesk ecosystem offers notable advantages by integrating various disciplines on a single platform. Given the current landscape of domestic design firms with diverse professional needs, Revit proves to be a highly suitable choice. For example, one of the popular tools on the official Pengyucheng Software website, the Revit Family Library 2012, was developed on this platform to assist Revit designers in improving efficiency, reducing the time spent creating custom family files, and better managing, accessing, and sharing these files.
Secondly, since Revit is developed by Autodesk, many elements of its interface and functionality resemble those of AutoCAD, a widely adopted 2D design software in China. This similarity makes it relatively easy for designers familiar with AutoCAD to learn and master Revit. However, for those accustomed to traditional design methods, Revit may still feel unfamiliar, requiring additional time and effort to learn.
Finally, from a software development perspective, Revit offers significant advantages. Its API supports extensive secondary development, allowing users to enhance the software’s capabilities and improve efficiency when built-in functions fall short. Additionally, Revit boasts strong model integration features, supporting the import and export of various commonly used file formats such as DWG, DWF, SAT, and IFC.
For these reasons, our BIM Building Training Network currently emphasizes Revit training. However, to meet the diverse needs of our students, we have already introduced CATIA training and plan to offer more BIM software courses on video platforms in the future. We encourage everyone to stay tuned for updates.
