BIM systems excel at managing complex building projects by integrating files of various sizes and formats into a single, unified view. This integration produces intuitive 3D coordinated renderings, allowing for better project visualization. By consolidating project data, BIM enhances the coordinated use of time and space and can even detect design issues and conflicts before construction begins.
As collaboration between designers and contractors improves, the number of time-consuming and costly information requests and change orders decreases significantly. BIM enables construction companies to provide input early in the project, helping to validate building designs based on construction standards. During the detailed design phase, traditional 2D drawings often fall short in identifying collisions due to their complexity. BIM models, however, allow detailed design work to be conducted directly within a realistic 3D environment. This enables relevant design optimizations aligned with the owner’s requirements.
The BIM system also helps detect conflicts between hard and soft components, checking for errors, omissions, clashes, and defects among elements designed by different disciplines.
