Situated at an elevation of 100 meters along Baekcho Road on Gushan Island in Lishui City, South Korea, the battery and port occupy a mountainous terrain. To the northwest, Lishui City unfolds around Zhonggu Mountain, bordered by Marae Mountain and Jasan Park on a narrow coastal plain. On the southwest side of the site, Seguji village contrasts sharply with the South China Sea, offering a captivating city skyline. Since 2012, Lishui has gained recognition as a marine tourism hotspot in the South China Sea. The stunning Lishui Night Sea, formed along Wutong Island, alongside various offshore islands, bridges, and mountainous straits, serves as the stunning geographical backdrop.

The building complex is divided into two main zones: the tower-style Area A and the single-unit accommodation Area B. Area A provides panoramic views of the city skyline, while Area B offers a tranquil setting for leisure and entertainment immersed in nature. The first floor of Area A houses reception rooms for café guests alongside accommodation units that overlook the city by day and night. Each unit features a terrace shared with the restaurant, perfect for outdoor dining and social gatherings. The spa center’s exterior, facing the terrace, ensures privacy across generations while presenting a distinctive facade. Together, the individual units form a prominent vacation hub within a larger framework, harmonizing architecture with nature as it evolves through seasons and time.

Leisure Café and Infinity Pool – The leisure café and infinity pool are open to both guests and café visitors. The landscape design divides the space into two functional layers: one above and one below the café, creating a dynamic experience centered around the leisure coffee shop. The rooftop connects with the sky like a ship’s deck, offering sweeping views of the surrounding scenery. Below, the infinity pool extends seamlessly toward the city skyline, blending water and sky. The adjoining terrace serves as a comfortable seating area for sunbathing and relaxation. Visitors can enjoy breathtaking views of Lishui’s red cityscape and the sunset over the sea from this serene space.

The transit observation deck serves as a transitional space between Zone A and Zone B. It functions as a platform conveying distinct spatial characteristics and operates as a separate reception area. Elevators and vertical circulation from all floors in Zone A lead to this observation deck via an aerial corridor located on the underground second floor. Integrated with the public bridge, this deck acts as a scenic viewpoint, assisting guests in their journeys and allowing them to take in the beautiful vistas of Sekiuji Village.

Zone B – Dedicated Accommodation Area
Zone B is built on sloping terrain, where spaces between buildings serve as communal areas adjacent to each unit. The design aims to replicate natural ground conditions, ensuring each unit receives ample natural light and ventilation. The outdoor spaces between buildings welcome guests with thoughtful architectural elements. Spacious terraces offer tranquil leisure areas where visitors can experience gentle breezes, the quietness of the forest, and expansive views of the distant sea.

Each accommodation unit includes a front window and terrace that encourage outdoor activities such as spa treatments and barbecues, taking advantage of the peaceful surroundings free from visual or noise disturbances. Inside, a split-level cross-section connects the terrace with the interior layout, enhancing functionality. From the kitchen and dining area, guests can enjoy outdoor dining while overlooking the forest, city, and spa center, which seamlessly connects to the living room, creating a fresh spatial experience. The bedroom incorporates the traditional Korean “toenmaru” space, designed to promote excellent ventilation, sunlight, and scenic views.
