With the rapid advancement of digital technology, many cities and regions nationwide are actively promoting BIM digital solutions. Video surveillance, widely used in daily life, has now been integrated into construction sites, marking a significant milestone in digital construction. This technology offers a new way to document construction progress by live streaming activities on-site, allowing for real-time monitoring of the project status and enhancing security measures.
The goal of video surveillance technology is to improve and expand construction site management through enhanced on-site recording. However, it does not create an integrated digital representation of the building or the construction site itself. Unlike a fully digitized model, video footage remains fragmented and localized, as cameras are typically installed only in key areas such as cranes and specific sections of the site.
To achieve true digital transformation on construction sites, BIM (Building Information Modeling) technology must be utilized. This involves creating digital models for construction objects like buildings and sites, incorporating detailed information such as attributes and timelines to develop comprehensive 4D construction models. Using these virtual construction sites as a foundation, combined with existing video surveillance and intelligent monitoring technologies, allows for timely problem detection and hazard prevention.
Moreover, this virtual construction approach enables the anticipation and management of safety and quality issues before they arise, effectively mitigating risks. Upon project completion, BIM models can be used to directly submit 4D construction documentation, achieving true digital management throughout the entire construction process.
Digitization plays a critical role in facilitating oversight from property owners and government agencies, serving as an essential tool for production management. Within this framework, BIM technology forms the digital backbone, while intelligent monitoring technologies provide innovative methods to enhance site supervision.
