BIM construction quality management is a technology-driven tool designed to enhance construction projects. To effectively implement quality management, it is essential to establish a robust information and communication infrastructure, creating a supportive external environment for BIM quality control.

Firstly, thorough planning for BIM software and hardware is crucial. Since BIM relies on 3D graphic displays, the hardware must support high-performance graphic processing. Projects should be equipped with mobile devices such as servers, switches, graphic workstations, tablets, and smartphones based on specific application needs. Additionally, for specialized requirements, equipment like video surveillance systems, deformation monitoring instruments, drones, and 3D scanners should be considered. On the software side, ensuring model lightweight capabilities is important to achieve fast and efficient data transmission and model visualization.
Secondly, advance planning for communication and data transmission is necessary. Construction sites are often located in remote or mountainous regions with limited network infrastructure. Therefore, setting up communication and network transmission facilities ahead of time is vital to maintain timely data exchange. If communication conditions are inadequate, the BIM system should support offline data storage to prevent disruptions.
Thirdly, it is important not to enforce BIM quality management across the entire project all at once. Adhering to the principle of “unified planning and phased implementation” is recommended. Selecting projects with mature implementation conditions as pilots allows for focused problem-solving on key business challenges. For example, during the construction of the Wudongde project, the construction management team chose the Hemenkou Bridge as a demonstration site for BIM application. They promoted BIM-based quality acceptance early in the process, gradually building experience and expanding implementation. This approach quickly paved the way for comprehensive BIM quality management across the project.
