Currently, there are two main BIM software solutions used for operations management: Archibus and FM:Systems.

(1) Archibus
Archibus is a global leader in Total Asset and Equipment Architecture Management (TIFM) solutions. Its key features include real estate management, facility management, operations and maintenance management, and technology management. The platform offers visual tools and long-term strategies for managing the entire asset lifecycle, helping owners achieve high returns on investment while providing comfortable and energy-efficient workplaces.
At its core, Archibus functions as a comprehensive digital platform that integrates with professional technical software such as AutoCAD. It collects, analyzes, and manages data to support informed decision-making. Notably, nearly half of the top 50 companies in the Fortune Global 500 utilize Archibus for their management needs.
(2) FM:Systems
FM:Systems is an operations management platform developed by the company of the same name. It continuously feeds new data into digital models created with Revit software, covering aspects like space utilization, energy consumption, equipment details, asset lifespan, and maintenance schedules. These extensive functionalities provide strong support for owners and managers, significantly enhancing the value derived from BIM technology.
The platform operates by first establishing data standards for Revit-edited data based on operational requirements. It then achieves bidirectional synchronization by integrating FM:Systems’ formatted data, which is finally imported into the system. A notable example of its use is in managing the Sydney Opera House. FM:Systems has officially entered the Chinese market and has been applied in projects such as the Shendu Building renovation.
