On April 10, 2016, the “Shanghai Design Capital · Collaborative BIM Innovation College” (referred to as the “BIM College”) was officially established, marked by a formal ceremony and the launch of an open BIM training course. Supported by the Municipal Housing and Urban-Rural Development Management Commission, the Municipal Economic and Information Technology Commission, Tongji University, and other organizations, this initiative was led by the Shanghai Design Capital Promotion Center in partnership with relevant universities and enterprise groups.
The BIM College aims to advance the architectural design industry by providing enterprises with up-to-date BIM information, offering high-level BIM training programs, and creating a collaborative platform that integrates industry enterprises, government agencies, and academic institutions. This collaboration is designed to improve the adoption and promotion of BIM technology across the sector.
The establishment ceremony was attended by notable figures including Shen Hong, Deputy Director of the Construction Market Supervision Department of the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Housing and Urban-Rural Development; Wang Leyi, Secretary General of the Shanghai Design Capital Promotion Center; Lou Yongqi, Dean of the School of Design and Creativity at Tongji University; Wang Guangbin, Vice Dean of the School of Economics and Management at Tongji University; along with other distinguished leaders. Each delivered speeches to celebrate and emphasize the importance of this initiative.
