The construction management phase encompasses processes such as construction simulation, detailed design, and cost estimation, all of which require advanced BIM solutions. Autodesk Navisworks software integrates design data created in AutoCAD and Revit with geometric shapes and information from other design tools, enabling real-time review across multiple formats regardless of file size. This software suite includes two main products: Autodesk Navisworks Manage and Autodesk Navisworks Freedom.

Navisworks Manage (illustrated above) combines error detection and clash management with dynamic 4D project scheduling and photorealistic visualization. These features help enhance the consistency, coordination, and accuracy of construction documents, thereby reducing waste, improving efficiency, and minimizing design changes. On the other hand, Navisworks Freedom is a free viewer for NWD and 3D DWF file formats.
During the structural detailing phase, AutoCAD Structural Detailing software generates precise construction and assembly drawings for steel and concrete structures based on BIM data from Revit. This significantly improves the accuracy of component fabrication. Finland’s Tekla software also offers robust capabilities for structural detailing, especially with its concrete-specific modules, making it well-suited for prefabricated housing projects.
For mechanical and electrical (M&E) detailed design, commonly used BIM software in China includes international tools such as MagiCAD, Revit MEP, and AutoCAD MEP, alongside domestic solutions like Tianzheng and PKPM. In the cost estimation and quantity takeoff phase, widely adopted software includes domestic pricing and quantity calculation tools such as Guanglian Da, Swell, and the Luban series.
