1. BIM Standardization. Although China introduced Building Information Modeling (BIM) technology in 2004, it remains in its early stages of development. This is primarily due to the lack of a standardized specification system for BIM application within the industry. Without unified BIM standards to guide its implementation, progress has been fragmented. Currently, China offers BIM modeling software such as Guanglianda and Luban; however, these platforms lack seamless interoperability. As a result, BIM usage tends to be isolated and individualistic. To advance BIM integration in the construction sector, a unified set of standardization guidelines is essential to regulate its application effectively.

2. The Immaturity of VR Technology. First, both VR hardware and software are not yet sufficiently advanced to support widespread industrial adoption. Most VR products currently available on the market are considered low-end or “pseudo-virtual” experiences. For instance, the screen resolution of VR head-mounted displays remains limited; even 4K resolution is still under development. According to recent AMD research, the optimal VR resolution is around 16K, but mass production and technological maturity of such displays are expected to take at least five more years.
Second, VR-induced dizziness remains a significant barrier to broader usage. Although the causes of this dizziness are complex, companies like Oculus prioritize resolving this issue above all else—even if it means delaying product releases or compromising certain aspects of the sensory experience and customer service. For VR technology to become widely adopted across large, medium, and small enterprises, overcoming this challenge is critical. While large companies can absorb the high costs of advanced equipment and materials, smaller and medium-sized businesses often cannot justify such investments. Consequently, many enterprises are unable to implement VR solutions. Only once technical challenges are addressed, industrial-scale production is achieved, and associated costs decrease will small and medium-sized enterprises consider adopting this technology. Until then, traditional construction methods will continue to dominate.
