Currently, since traditional review procedures still require 2D drawings, many companies begin BIM projects only after completing the preliminary design stage, maintaining conventional methods during schematic design.

2. Detail-oriented design with slower progress: BIM focuses on detailed 3D modeling, whereas traditional 2D design tends to be less refined. The level of model detail can be adjusted throughout the design process, enabling designers to incorporate their expertise in greater depth. However, the pace and efficiency of design depend heavily on the designer’s proficiency with the software and their ability to collaborate effectively, often resulting in unpredictable progress.

3. Uncertain risks: When embarking on BIM projects for the first time, firms often worry about document communication with clients, interdisciplinary collaboration, and standardizing documentation. While full BIM integration poses no major technical obstacles, design companies benefit from hiring specialized BIM consulting teams. These experts help establish necessary systems and run pilot projects within small teams to build hands-on experience. This approach allows gradual expansion of BIM implementation and fosters stronger collaborative capabilities within the company’s BIM team, ultimately leading to better outcomes.
