Additionally, it helps identify solutions to schedule delays, minimizing project management challenges and ensuring timely, high-quality completion. In one case, over 1100 collision points were identified, preventing numerous engineering changes through schedule adjustments.

The second application is the simulation of construction operations. To optimize and improve the construction schedule, two types of simulation are essential: actual work stage simulation and construction simulation software. The first focuses on real-world progress, tracking each task’s status, categorizing collected data, and using this information to refine the schedule. The second is a conceptual simulation that sequences project tasks based on the overall plan, simulates equipment and labor allocation, reveals operational stages for each task, and provides contingency plans to enhance coordination across project activities. When deviations occur, this allows for timely adjustments to keep the project on track.

For actual work simulation, the initial step is linking the 3D model to each task in the schedule and defining relevant modules. The finer the task breakdown, the more precise the data collected during execution. In this project, 3D modules were categorized by specialties such as water supply and drainage, mechanical and electrical engineering, structural, and architectural components for the schedule simulation. All gathered project data was then organized to optimize the construction schedule effectively.

Following this, simulation software was used to repeatedly model work task sequences and construction progress throughout the entire project lifecycle. Through an intelligent visual interface, stakeholders can monitor each phase of the project in real time. Project managers gain immediate insight into overlapping tasks and stage progress, enabling accurate tracking of actual project advancement. After simulating the schedule, animated modules create easy-to-understand visual demonstrations of the construction process for all participants. Compared to analyzing actual progress alone, simulation based on planned operations allows task-specific implementation, increasing the technical complexity but also enhancing the accuracy of project data collected.
