The two primary phases in deep foundation pit construction are the site leveling stage and the excavation and support stage. In this field, BIM technology is utilized to develop a comprehensive BIM information model of the foundation pit. This model helps visualize and simulate the relationship between the original site data and the foundation pit support system.
Using the BIM technology platform, it is possible to create a virtual environment that closely resembles the actual construction site. This allows all project participants to accurately monitor the project’s real-time progress, communicate engineering plans and issues based on unified information, and make informed, scientific management decisions. As a result, decision-making is accelerated, project delays are minimized, and overall investment is optimized.

The application of BIM technology in deep foundation pit construction primarily involves the following steps:
(1) Develop a geotechnical information model for the foundation pit based on geological survey reports and design parameters.
(2) Collect GIS data from the surrounding area and integrate it into the existing model.
(3) Translate the two-dimensional information from construction drawings into the BIM model using BIM software, according to design drawings and reference standards, to accurately represent the structural relationships of each component.
(4) Use BIM software to conduct model clash detection and 4D construction simulation on the foundation pit model. This process helps identify component conflicts and monitor the progress of each construction stage.
(5) Automatically calculate excavation and backfill volumes through the software system.
(6) Input real-time foundation pit data into the BIM model to track changes during construction, such as settlement or displacement of foundation pit piles. This assists engineering personnel in evaluating and inspecting potential hazards.
