BIM technology offers powerful functions that can be applied throughout the entire lifecycle of construction projects. From the initial decision-making phase to final operation and maintenance, and from investment estimation to project settlement, BIM plays a crucial role. It especially excels in engineering quantity statistics and pricing, which are closely linked to cost control.

In the era of traditional drawings, plans were flat and static. Although they contained extensive information, extracting and interpreting this data required significant manual effort and time. Accuracy was never guaranteed, and any minor changes meant starting over, wasting resources. This not only consumed manpower and materials but also risked information distortion due to lack of updates, limiting effectiveness.
BIM technology completely eliminates these issues. It serves as a comprehensive platform that integrates all project information, enabling real-time updates that are accessible anywhere and remain fully consistent with actual conditions. Currently in China, the primary BIM applications related to cost control focus on BIM models, schedule planning, material management, engineering measurement, and pricing.
The process begins with creating a data information database based on BIM technology. This allows accurate, timely input of factual data, while cost-related quantities and pricing are collected within the BIM platform. For uncertain or unknown data, temporary pricing can be entered initially. As real data becomes available, it can be easily updated with a single click to maintain full synchronization.
Furthermore, BIM enables multidimensional cost analysis. When cost analysis is detailed enough, effective cost control naturally follows. By leveraging BIM, cost analysis can start from the smallest processes and expand across various dimensions such as time and space. This approach supports multiple comparisons and ensures precise cost control throughout the project lifecycle.
