To further accelerate the robust growth of BIM technology in China, a multifaceted approach is essential.

1. Strong Government Support and Standardization of BIM Regulations
Currently, state-owned enterprises dominate China’s construction sector and tend to adopt BIM technology cautiously. Since BIM is still in its early stages of development and application, many companies hesitate to implement it boldly. If the government enacts supportive policies to actively encourage BIM adoption, includes BIM technology as a fundamental part of building software, and establishes unified BIM standards and dedicated BIM centers, the advancement of BIM technology across construction and related industries will accelerate significantly.
2. Developing a Large Talent Pool in BIM
BIM technology represents the future trend in architecture and construction. To meet this demand, the government and leading universities should encourage more students to learn BIM, motivating them to participate in BIM-focused competitions and gain hands-on experience with the technology.
3. Active Promotion by Domestic Software Developers
As BIM technology is still emerging in China, domestic software developers—key players in software innovation—should foster a supportive market environment. They can offer extensive architectural design and engineering consulting services centered on BIM applications. Additionally, they should assist government bodies in establishing relevant BIM standards, including those for industrialization, residential construction, planning, and design approvals. Established software companies could also partner with universities to create BIM training centers, providing students with exposure to cutting-edge technologies. These collaborations would facilitate employment opportunities for graduates and enable ongoing BIM training for university faculty.
