Bentley’s software suite shares similarities with Autodesk’s Revit, as both feature strong systematic frameworks, independent systems, and advanced technologies.

Compared to Autodesk’s offerings, Bentley’s software excels in pipeline processing and factory design. Architecturally, ABD integrates seamlessly with the 3D design platform MicroStation, closely linking its graphics platform with specialized design tools. This integration creates a centralized and unified workspace that supports the entire workflow for four disciplines, including model creation, drawing output, statistical reporting, collision detection, renderings, and animations.
Thanks to ABD’s joint technology, each discipline can operate independently while collaborating effectively through data interaction.
The key features of ABD include:
(1) Parameterized Model Creation: Each professional model is designed with independent parameters. Once created, these models integrate into a multi-disciplinary BIM model with cross-references.
(2) Pipeline Integration and Collision Detection: The built-in collision detection module enables users to identify and resolve design conflicts during the workflow.
(3) Interactive Full-Information 3D Browsing: Users can freely explore the entire BIM model or the building’s interior scenes.
(4) Automated Quantity Estimation and Budgeting: Engineering quantity standards can be encoded into GBXML files in the background, allowing BIM construction to automatically generate quantity statistics.
(5) Electronic Publishing with 3DPDF: Models can be published in 3DPDF format, enabling digital permissions for specific objects. Additionally, BIM model files can be directly imported into Google Earth.
