Notice on the 2021 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Metro Industry Conference

Call for Innovative Technology Promotion and Project Achievement Showcases

The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) is a significant national development initiative, personally planned and advanced by General Secretary Xi Jinping. The goal is to establish an internationally leading bay area. A key factor in achieving this is leveraging its geographic advantage, particularly in transportation.

Currently, five cities within the GBA—Hong Kong, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Dongguan, and Foshan—have operational metro systems with a combined length exceeding 1,000 kilometers. This figure represents only the existing network. According to national development plans, the GBA will add at least another 1,000 kilometers of new metro lines, effectively creating a second underground Greater Bay Area.

The release of the “Development Plan Outline for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area” offers favorable conditions for infrastructure growth in the region. As the metro network expands and the economy grows, the need for a modern, integrated transportation system centered on rail transit becomes increasingly urgent. Accelerating intercity and suburban railway construction is critical for regional coordination and addressing gaps in comprehensive transportation.

To support the green, safe, and efficient development of China’s metro industry, the 2021 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Metro Industry Conference will take place in Shenzhen from July 8-9, 2021. The event will gather national and regional development commissions, railway bureaus, urban rail transit companies, planning, design, supervision, construction, operation units, as well as providers of new equipment, materials, technologies, and supporting services. Industry experts from associations, societies, and international organizations will also attend.

We warmly invite experts, scholars, and representatives from metro construction companies to engage in exploring innovative technologies and research achievements shaping the future of urban metro systems.

The conference will feature keynote speeches, technical exchanges, product presentations, and more.
