Today, we bring you the third installment in a series featuring nearly one hundred architectural tips. The author encourages everyone to learn from and benefit from these valuable insights. Without further delay, here is the main content:
The maximum slope allowed for building staircases should not exceed 38 degrees.
42. Residential living rooms, bedrooms, and kitchens must have direct access to natural light. For these spaces, the window-to-floor area ratio should be 1:7, while for other rooms, it should be 1:12.
43. The minimum clear width of staircases in residential units must be 0.9 meters when enclosed by walls on both sides, and at least 0.75 meters if open on one side. Indoor stair treads must have a minimum depth of 0.22 meters, with riser heights not less than 0.20 meters.
44. Operating shops that store Class A and Class B fire-hazardous substances on the ground floor of residential buildings is strictly prohibited. In addition, noise-producing entertainment venues should not be located in these areas.
The minimum clear height for rooms such as basements and storage spaces must be at least 2.0 meters.
When the horizontal projection length of an indoor ramp exceeds 15 meters, a resting platform is required.
47. The space taken up by external wall insulation is excluded from the usable floor area calculation. Similarly, flues, air ducts, and pipeline shafts are not counted toward usable area, whereas cabinets are included.
48. The change in angle between two flights of a spiral staircase should not exceed 10 degrees. The tread width, measured 0.25 meters from the inner handrail center on each flight, must be greater than 0.22 meters.
The clear distance between two emergency exits must be at least 5 meters.
When a stairway door is fully opened, the net width from the landing must be maintained at a minimum of 0.6 meters. The distance between the doorway on the side wall and the stair tread should be no less than 0.4 meters. Opening the door must not reduce the clear width of the staircase.
51. Prestressed reinforced concrete has a fire resistance rating approximately half that of ordinary concrete.
The underside of indoor drainage pipes must be at least 1.9 meters above the floor and should not obstruct the opening of doors or windows.
53. The clear width of the entrance corridor inside an apartment should be no less than 1.2 meters; corridors leading to bedrooms must be at least 1 meter wide; and those leading to auxiliary rooms no less than 0.9 meters.
54. The net height of internal hanging cabinets should be at least 0.4 meters, and the net depth of wall-mounted cabinets no less than 0.5 meters.
55. The height difference between the floor at the staircase entrance and the outdoor ground should be at least 0.1 meters.
56. A comprehensive building is defined as a public building with two or more floors and two or more distinct uses.
57. High-end residential buildings are distinguished by superior decoration standards and are equipped with air conditioning systems.
The fire resistance rating for basements in high-rise buildings is classified as level one.
The fire resistance ratings for fire doors are as follows: Class A doors – 1.2 hours; Class B doors – 0.9 hours; Class C doors – 0.6 hours.
60. High-rise buildings use Class C liquid fuel, with oil storage tanks buried directly near the building or podium. If the building’s exterior wall facing the oil tank within 4 meters is a firewall, and the total oil tank capacity does not exceed 15 cubic meters, there is no restriction on the fire separation distance between the oil tank and the building.
