Key Topics
Topic 1: Digital Construction
How Digital Technology is Transforming the Construction Industry
Today, BIM stands out as a promising technology both abroad, where it is rapidly advancing, and domestically, with strong policy support. It is recognized as a vital tool for the construction industry’s transformation and upgrading. However, practical BIM implementation reveals that establishing mature workflows and achieving unified management driven by BIM parameterization is still a work in progress.
Experts from Arup will discuss the importance of developing digital workflows that better serve clients, illustrating through case studies how using IFC as the core data architecture can add value. Simultaneously, GS1 and IBM representatives will present the “Digital Supply Chain” project (DSCiBE), a bSI and GS1 initiative focused on developing neutral and open workflows using IFC.
In a salon session, leading Chinese BIM experts from China Construction Technology Group, China Communications Construction Co., Ltd., and the Railway BIM Alliance will analyze critical issues such as industry-level data platforms, international engineering construction standardization, and how IFC standards can revolutionize the construction landscape. They will engage in discussions on “openBIM from the perspective of engineering construction” alongside senior international BIM professionals.
Topic 2: Digital Management
How OpenBIM Supports Owners in Managing Digital Assets
With the rise of the digital economy, product and service quality has become a key competitive factor. Digital management is the trend driving the real economy closer to digitalization, and the engineering construction industry is no exception.
Sweden, with the world’s lowest traffic accident mortality rate, demonstrates that efficient transportation safety and speed are achievable. Technical experts from the Swedish Transport Agency will share insights on the demand for OpenBIM and collaborative working methods.
Additionally, senior data engineers from Amsterdam International Airport will discuss the benefits of using IFC to present and exchange information consistently, referencing a major ongoing project at the airport.
Topic 3: Smart Cities
Towards a Digital Future: Outstanding Examples of Digital Cities
In recent years, thanks to national policies and local government support, BIM technology has been applied in pilot projects covering design, construction, and operation phases of municipal and large-scale buildings. The goal is to build smart and digital cities.
Executives and project directors from the Singapore Land Management Authority and Helsinki City will share their experiences developing “Smart Singapore” and the latest technologies and achievements of the Helsinki Smart City Project, aiming to deliver smarter citizen services.
During the salon session, technical experts from Singapore, Helsinki, and bSI will join forces for an in-depth discussion on “Smart Cities – Real or Fictional?” Topics will include cross-border cooperation, workflows from IFC to CityGML, buildingSMART technology development, bSI standards, and digital solutions.
