Chuangyi MIX · Luo Xiu Road
Integrating the vibrant spirit of urban life, this project brings fresh, exciting prospects to the neighborhood community. It revitalizes the local living circle and commercial spaces, marking a new chapter of co-growth with the city.
Despite changing times, people’s pursuit of an ideal life remains constant. While houses serve as the container for daily life, communities and neighborhood spaces embody diverse lifestyle possibilities. What will the ideal future community look like?
In collaboration with CREATER, Sanyi has transformed an old, closed-off building on Luoxiu Road into a warm and inviting “community living room” — Chuangyi MIX · Luo Xiu Road. Anchored by the “15-minute living circle” concept, it seamlessly combines elements of beautiful living and friendly community. This innovative mixed-use development blends social spaces, green offices, cultural exhibitions, and quality residences.

Precise Positioning Unlocks Unlimited Potential for Community Commerce
Exploring the endless possibilities of expansion

The site previously housed Haoyuan Life Square at 897 Luoxiu Road, Xuhui District. The complex includes a three-story podium and a 15-story tower, totaling approximately 48,000 square meters. However, the building had been long abandoned since its initial construction, leading to a significant waste of resources.

△ Original Haoyuan Life Square
Located just 300 meters from Luoxiu Road Station on Metro Line 15, the project is surrounded by numerous residential communities. Besides local residents, the area includes many relocated families and migrant workers. The neighborhood’s outdated street shops lack high-quality, large-scale commercial venues and diverse social spaces.
Situated within the Lingyun area of Xuhui District and part of a national-level science and technology innovation industrial belt, the site benefits from nearby prestigious institutions such as East China University of Science and Technology and Shanghai Middle School, offering rich educational resources.

△ Project location
Research shows that over 350,000 people live within a 1.5-kilometer radius, including families, office workers, and university staff and students. With this in mind, the renovation targets the core local consumer groups, positioning the project as a “vertical community” that integrates commercial, office, and residential functions.
The layered design creates a new type of community commerce that blends food, social spaces, offices, residences, and cultural exhibitions.

One-Stop Convenience at Your Doorstep
The commercial section of Chuangyi MIX · Luo Xiu Road embraces a “human life atmosphere” concept centered on fashion, food, fun, and enjoyment. It offers dining, entertainment, life services, sports, fitness, and family-friendly options, providing residents with seamless access to diverse experiences.
This creates a welcoming, engaging, and warm community living room, filling the regional gap for high-quality commerce, enhancing nearby commercial offerings, and broadening consumption choices for families.
The project preserves the vibrant street atmosphere of Luoxiu Road by tailoring commercial scenes to local culture. Most first-floor merchants are late-night vendors, so business hours extend until 2:00 AM. After 9:30 PM, ambient lighting shifts to warm tones, music popular with the younger generation plays, and a small bar vibe emerges, creating a lively nightlife atmosphere unique to Luo Xiu Road.

Beyond the indoor commercial spaces, Chuangyi MIX · Luo Xiu Road actively activates outdoor areas to rejuvenate urban vitality. The project redesigns surrounding street corners and creates a “Cloud Market” aligned with the Shanghai Nightlife Festival, featuring neon lighting, sweets, ice cream, coffee, wine, and community flea markets. This provides citizens with vibrant spaces for leisure and entertainment.
By day, trendy markets, parties, and flash mobs energize the space; by night, late-night eateries, entertainment, and live music foster a lively moonlit economy. The project integrates the spirit of urban life to bring new excitement and promise to neighborhood commerce.

Experience Future-Ready Smart Office Spaces
High commercial rents often limit the growth of small and micro enterprises. Chuangyi SPACE shared office services address this challenge by providing affordable, high-quality office spaces for local high-tech companies and university startups.

△ Separate office entrance
Located on the building’s third floor, the office area was originally an 8-meter-high open space. To maximize its potential, architects introduced a mezzanine, creating a spacious duplex shared office environment with an independent entrance adjacent to the mall’s main entrance.

△ Open duplex office concept
The design revolves around an “open duplex office” concept. The mezzanine wraps around the perimeter, enclosing a tall indoor atrium as a shared communal space. Surrounding areas are segmented into semi-private offices, with glass partitions facing the atrium to enhance transparency and openness.

△ Spacious and transparent office environment
The interiors feature subtle and calm cement finishes, complemented by large expanses of white and gray tiles, coatings, and perforated aluminum panels. This creates a serene, elegant ambiance that emphasizes texture within a minimalist setting.

△ Warm material palette and finishes
An eye-catching orange glass box is positioned within the atrium, creating dynamic spatial contrast and stimulating creativity. Warm materials including wood, steel, marble, and glass enhance cohesion and foster smooth interaction between spaces and functions.

Green Ecology: Pursuing Cost-Effective and Sustainable Transformation
Shaping a sustainable future of continuous growth

Modern awareness of life quality, health, and environment has driven green, sustainable, and low-energy architecture to the forefront. This renovation embraces green ecology, harmonizing culture, architecture, and nature while enhancing the site’s cultural and natural assets.
Following principles of economy, practicality, and aesthetics, the project aims to deliver significant impact with modest costs.
Unified Architectural Style Infused with Green Vitality
The original podium was fragmented, with inconsistent colors, materials, and styles across blocks and tower, creating a rigid and disjointed appearance. The renovation unified these elements, harmonizing styles and colors and redefining building proportions along the street.
This approach shaped a welcoming commercial frontage, an iconic office “green box,” and a sleek, modern tower silhouette.

△ Urban spatial transformation strategy along the street
The architect opened up the previously enclosed first and second floors by creating a central concave area that expands the display space and forms a lively activity plaza, establishing a dialogue with the surrounding urban fabric and enhancing commercial interaction.
Landscape flower beds and art installations at the commercial frontage, paired with the Chuangyi logo and branding, establish a strong project identity.

△ Enhancing commercial interaction along the street
For the office areas above the commercial podium, vertical greenery is introduced along the street facade using steel wire mesh combined with plants, creating a lightweight “green box” effect. This iconic green wall revitalizes the cityscape and strengthens the building’s urban presence.

The iconic ‘green box’
Plans include a rooftop garden atop the podium, extending hotel amenities and serving as a community hub with circular walkways, leisure zones, outdoor furniture, and more. Residents will have direct access via elevators and escalators. This integration of ground-level, vertical, and rooftop greening aims to transform the community complex into a vibrant urban oasis.

Maximizing Impact with Cost Efficiency
Adhering to the principles of economy, practicality, and aesthetics, the architects optimized function, spatial flow, and efficiency. They prioritized design effects while minimizing material costs to achieve the best economic outcome under strict budget control.

△ Aerial view of the project
High-cost materials were carefully controlled. The street-facing facades and main entrances utilize economical yet high-quality materials like perforated panels, aluminum panels, and imitation stone coatings, mostly applied as decorative accents. Non-street-facing areas primarily employ cost-effective coatings.

Careful planning and use of high-cost materials
The facade primarily uses a window wall system with partial curtain walls at entrances, balancing cost and appearance. Steel wire mesh and greenery on the third floor podium and parapet walls provide eco-friendly features while reducing costs.
Interior finishes adopt a high-tech industrial style, exposing some ceiling pipelines and minimizing suspended ceilings for a streamlined look.

△ Environmentally friendly vertical greening

△ Enhancing interior design style while controlling costs
As a new Chuangyi product line, Chuangyi MIX · Luo Xiu Road aims to infuse green vitality into diverse settings. It seeks to activate urban space, functions, and industry development, fostering strong neighborhood connections and delivering fresh, exciting prospects for local business. It naturally brings together local partners to share in the beauty of life.
