The phrase “dental clinic” often brings feelings of tension, unease, and anxiety. This project aimed to introduce comfort and relaxation into the dental clinic environment while maintaining professionalism and standardization. The goal was to create a space where every patient can feel calm and at ease during their visit.

Professionalism Beyond the Surface
The functional requirements of a dental clinic differ greatly from other spaces. Before beginning the design, ensuring the space meets all functional criteria is essential to create a professional and standardized clinic. This includes specifications for consultation rooms and CT rooms. The small operating room must comply with strict medical standards to ensure the flow of doctors, patients, and medical waste remain separate. Once all layouts meet these regulations, aesthetic considerations are integrated.

Integrating Architectural Design Language
At the project’s outset, a thorough site inspection revealed many fixed columns and walls. The design challenge was to fully utilize these structural elements to create a smooth, logical, and comfortable space. Fortunately, the spacing between the four load-bearing walls perfectly suited the zoning requirements for functional areas. These were designated for rooms that don’t require natural light, such as CT and bathrooms, complying with code. The design also addressed the mismatch between sloping walls and the overall layout by incorporating sloped elements that enhance the flow and add a design language. Positioning the reception desk within this sloped structure created a central hub for circulation.

A Professional and Comfortable ‘Green’ Connection
Dental clinics often evoke anxiety among visitors. The materials and colors used play a vital role in fostering a relaxed and soothing atmosphere. Considering the diverse age groups visiting, the space incorporates extensive natural wood veneer, which introduces warmth and softness to the otherwise clinical and sterile setting.

△ Reception Area
The central reception at the entrance acts as the space’s focal point. It features a base of gray terrazzo-textured bricks, creating a solid visual anchor. Above this, a white relief panel showcases the logo, softening the rigidity of the brick wall and delivering the logo in an elegant, casual manner.

The three small green squares on the wall form a professional yet inviting ‘green’ bridge. Green is used as an accent color throughout the clinic with careful, intricate detail. When a green square at a consultation room entrance lights up, it signals that a doctor is currently treating a patient. This feature is both functional and visually striking against the wooden veneer wall, creating a vibrant and impressive effect.

△ Consultation Room
Through the glass, a clean green glow illuminates the walls of each consultation room. This effect is achieved using transparent glass panels that incorporate the glass’s thickness and green tint. Light strips refract through the glass, creating a technological ambiance. This “green light” permeates the entire environment, adding vibrancy and a naturally calming atmosphere.

△ Children’s Clinic
Due to the high ceiling, a segmented wall design was employed. Part of the upper wall is painted with white latex paint to visually lower the perceived height. A light strip illuminates the ceiling, enhancing transparency and visual appeal. This approach also reduces costs compared to full wall paneling. On the segmented upper wall, door signs are uniformly arranged with a three-dimensional relief texture, creating a quiet sense of order. This treatment makes the white wall more meaningful and far from dull.

Even a simple white wall reflects careful consideration of a “people-centered” design philosophy, which is the core principle of this project.
