
Sample Question for Level 3 (Architectural Design) of the National BIM Skill Level Examination
Exam Requirements:
1. Exam format: computer-based operation, open book.
2. Exam duration: 360 minutes total (240 minutes in the morning, 120 minutes in the afternoon).
3. Create a new folder named with your “admission ticket number + name” to store all files generated during the exam. Upload and submit the model and design results before the end of the morning session. Submit the report file before the end of the afternoon session (report format is flexible; a PPT with notes or embedded audio is recommended).
Test Sections:
- Using the provided building master plan, project overview, and requirements, independently design and create a building model with BIM software. Save the result in your folder under the filename “Building Model + Candidate Name.xxx”.

The project is a tourist reception center located in a scenic area of Haikou City. The site features a gentle slope and a scenic lake to the southwest. - Attachment Materials:

- The building must not exceed two floors with a total construction area under 1800 square meters. The design should ensure functional efficiency and harmony with the environment. Main functions include:
a) Ticketing area, approximately 200 square meters;
b) Catering and kitchen area, approximately 800 square meters;
c) Office and reception area, approximately 200 square meters;
d) Store, approximately 400 square meters. (20 points) - Create a terrain model. (10 points)
- Develop a building model including elements such as grids, walls, columns, doors, windows, floors, stairs, etc. (10 points)
- Model outdoor landscaping including roads, greenery, and other features. (10 points)
- Perform at least one building performance simulation based on the BIM model. Possible analyses include sunlight, lighting, ventilation, noise, or energy consumption, with reasonable justification and results. (20 points)
- The report should include but is not limited to:
a) Design description;
b) Overall BIM model visuals (indoor and outdoor) with renderings or animated walkthroughs of key spaces;
c) General plan and area detail tables;
d) General floor plan plus individual floor plans;
e) Main elevations and sections;
f) Results of the building performance simulation analysis;
g) Additional content demonstrating your proficiency in BIM technology, software skills, and architectural design application. The report should be clear, well-organized, and visually appealing. (30 points) - Other unspecified details and decisions are left to the candidate’s discretion.
